Real Stories from Autism Partnership Families
When our son Kimi was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at just two years old, we were filled with uncertainty. We wondered if he would ever communicate, make friends, attend a mainstream school, or live independently.
At Autism Partnership, we found a team that believed in Kimi's potential from the very beginning. They created an individualized treatment program tailored to his unique strengths and supported our family every step of the way.
Today, four years later, Kimi is thriving in a mainstream school alongside his peers. Looking back, the progress he has made has surpassed everything we ever imagined possible.
— Kimi's Mother
After just six months of treatment at Autism Partnership, we began seeing changes we had hoped for but never thought would come so quickly.
Kasey became more engaged with the people around him, started communicating more, initiated interactions on his own, and showed greater curiosity and motivation to learn.
Most importantly, for the first time, we felt that Kasey was truly connecting with the world around him—and with us as his parents.
For the first time, we felt he was truly connecting with the world—and with us as his parents. Watching those moments unfold has been incredibly rewarding.
— Kasey's Father
Before Autism Partnership, Phillips rarely responded when his name was called. It often felt difficult to connect with him, and many everyday moments that other families experienced seemed out of reach.
Today, he looks at us when we speak, answers questions, asks us to play, shares his interests, and expresses his own thoughts and feelings.
Being able to communicate and connect with our son in ways we once thought might never be possible has transformed our family. Seeing his personality shine through has been one of our greatest joys.

Why Families Choose Autism Partnership San Francisco
Every child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is different. That is why we do not follow a preset curriculum or one-size-fits-all approach.
At Autism Partnership, each child receives an individualized ABA treatment program tailored to their strengths, challenges, learning style, and developmental goals. Our clinical team continuously adjusts teaching strategies based on your child’s progress to create the most effective and meaningful learning experience possible.
Before children can successfully develop communication, social, and academic skills, they first need to learn foundational “learning how to learn” skills such as:
- paying attention
- following instructions
- coping with frustration
- staying motivated to learn
We also work to reduce behaviors that interfere with learning so children can become more successful and independent over time.
Our Progressive ABA approach focuses on making learning engaging, motivating, and meaningful. Rather than relying heavily on artificial rewards, we help children become motivated by social interaction, play, achievement, and real-life experiences.
This helps children apply their skills more naturally across home, school, and community environments.
In addition to one-on-one ABA therapy, children also need opportunities to learn and interact with peers. When appropriate, we incorporate social groups, play dates, and group learning activities to help children build communication, flexibility, cooperation, and social interaction skills in more natural settings.
Our goals go beyond academics. We focus on helping children develop communication, play, friendships, emotional regulation, daily living skills, and greater independence.
We believe meaningful relationships, confidence, and participation in family and community life are important parts of successful autism intervention.
Parents are an essential part of their child’s progress. Through ongoing parent support and coaching, we provide practical strategies that families can use in everyday life to better support their child’s development.
At the same time, we believe parents should be parents first — not full-time therapists. Our goal is to support families while helping them maintain a healthy and sustainable balance throughout their child’s treatment journey.

Frequently Asked Questions at Autism Partnership
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a research-based approach to understanding and developing behavior. In practice, it means working with your child to build communication, social, learning, and self-help skills, while also addressing behaviors that get in the way of learning. ABA is highly individualized and can benefit children across the full spectrum, at any age.
The Autism Partnership Method® (APM®) is AP’s own progressive approach to ABA, built on over 30 years of research and clinical practice. Unlike conventional ABA, APM® emphasizes in-the-moment clinical judgment and flexibility, adapting to each child as they change from moment to moment. Treatment takes place across multiple settings, the clinic, home, school, and community, so that skills can transfer readily to real life.
The recommended number of ABA therapy hours depends on your child’s individual needs, developmental level, learning goals, and areas of challenge. Research and clinical experience consistently show that higher levels of quality intervention are often associated with stronger outcomes for many children with ASD.
Many children at Autism Partnership begin with between 20 and 45 hours of therapy per week. As your child develops new skills, becomes more independent, and progresses in school and daily life, treatment recommendations and therapy hours are adjusted accordingly.
Research consistently shows that early intervention can lead to stronger developmental outcomes for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Beginning ABA therapy at a younger age may help children build communication, social, learning, and daily living skills during important developmental years.
However, it is never too late to begin treatment. ABA therapy can benefit individuals across a wide range of ages and developmental levels.
At Autism Partnership San Francisco, we provide autism treatment and ABA therapy services for children as young as 20 months old through school age and beyond.
